Hello and happy almost holidays. (Hey, we just had Thanksgiving, so it’s definitely that time of year.) I got my gift early, a website makeover. I hope you guys like the new layout. I love the way the images appear in a much more striking way. (Thanks, Jupiter Multimedia!)
In other news, I just completed a new illustration, this one holiday-inspired. More specifically I just love the whimsical vibe of the new Kate Spade holiday campaign, with model Fernanda Ly. In this illo, I put Ly in the star-patterned Amada dress.
I painted this using watercolor, including that’s a pre-mixed glittery solution (Liquid Watercolor in “Metallic Pearl” from Blick). It’s very subtle and just meant for finishing touches. However, this is what I like. It’s very easy for artists and illustrators to go overboard with glitter and ultimately the effect is very arts and crafts class. Sometimes less is more.
