If you live in or around New York City, you may have heard about the blooming of the corpse flower, a phenomenon that had been awaited for decades and finally happened this past weekend at the Botanical Gardens. If you haven’t, well, basically there’s this huge flower that bears a slight resemblance to the man-eating plant from Little Shop of Horrors but also when blooming stinks like rotten flesh. Hence the name. Of course I was intrigued. Scroll on for my interpretative doodle of the corpse flower as mysterious, beautiful woman. (This was ink on paper with a wash of watercolor.)
