I don’t normally do still life or nature-inspired illustrations, but I made an exception this week, since I really wanted to make a special card for someone. The card was in sympathy for my doctor whose daughter recently died, and well, since there are really no words that can make someone feel better under those circumstances, I wanted the image to communicate a feeling rather than a message. And there’s something about cherry blossoms in my view that depicts beauty and hope, but not in a way that’s cloying. I can’t explain why other than perhaps because it’s one of the first signs of spring.

Yeah I know, that’s still a while away. Nevertheless, we can live vicariously through art.
