Happy weekend, everyone. This morning I found myself getting inspired by burgundy, a color that seems to be everywhere this season, perhaps an offshoot of last season’s romance with anything in oxblood. Though I liked oxblood, I think I like burgundy (which is slightly more red and less brown than the former) even better. In particular I’ve been drawn to all the burgundy boots I’m seeing around and it’s also gorgeous on lips and nails.

So without further ado, here’s my first illustration to be posted here since I moved three weeks ago — it’s really been crazy.

For the girl on the left, I was inspired by vintage corduroy skirts, which there seem to be no shortage of on eBay or Etsy. (The one pictured is a Victoria’s Secret pencil skirt on eBay.) The yellow top is Pepa Loves. Not sure if it’s still available, but I spotted it on the blog Flashes of Style. The two-tone moto jacket is Burberry London. The white dress worn with it is Elie Tahari. Both items are from Nordstrom. The floral “Giving Thanks” dress is via Modcloth. As for the boots and shoes, from left to right there’s the Modcloth “Haute on Your Heels” booties, “Lory” Boots in wine from Nine West’s Vintage America Collection and “Whitney” pumps by Julianne Hough for Sole Society from Nordstrom (They’re pictured here in black but also come in burgundy suede.)
