Plaid is often a go-to pattern for fall and this season doesn’t seem to be an exception. Plaid is everywhere: skirts, pants, the sleeves of leather moto jackets and all over the place on coats. I’ve been coveting it all and recently I found a plaid cape coat that I can’t stop thinking about. So naturally, after obsessing a bit, a illustrated it. Though this year, the cuts of garments seen at NYFW are mostly highly structured, I admit to being more taken by the flowy shape of the cape, which, in plaid, is a traditional Irish look, and one I may find myself relying on come winter rather than some boring maternity coat. (Oh yeah, I’m pregnant, and in the market for a coat, hehe.)
Anyway, I’m not sure what made me want to illustrate this girl with a dog in the woods, but sometimes I can’t resist giving my illustration subjects a backstory of some sort. Also if you like this look, this coat is actually available at a fabulous Irish/Celtic boutique in New Hope, PA, called Celt Iberia and the over-the-knee boots can be found at Free People.
I want that coat. Even if I can’t wear it in Texas. I want it!! <3
Lovely illustration.
