This is a post I probably should have made in February, since I’m sure everyone’s all Fashion Weeked out by now, but there was so much gorgeousness going on at NYFW Fall 2013 that I couldn’t resist sharing my thoughts and inspiration along with everyone else.

So without further ado, here are three illustrations inspired by the runways at New York Fashion Week, which caught my eye as some seriously pretty looks for lips. (See also my last post on the subject (Beauty at NYFW: Three Standout Yet Completely Wearable Looks for Eyes).

At Phillip Lim, last fall’s oxblood trend could be found on models’ lips while the rest of their makeup was minimal. The designer told WWD he was going for a “cool uptown girl with a downtown boyfriend” vibe. I just thought the overall effect was very pretty in a winter princess kind of way.

At Badgley Mischka, lips were various shades of bright red and I couldn’t help but be drawn to this blood-orangey hue. Paired with flawless skin, strong, arched brows and cat eye liner, the look exuded old Hollywood glamour.

At Moschino Cheap & Chic, models rocked punk chic with either Amy Winehouse-sque cat eye liner or minimal eyes paired with black lipstick. I found myself liking both but was more intrigued by the black lips since that’s a look that hasn’t really been associated with high fashion. Paired with sleek patterned dresses and blazers though, this sharp look was more Shirley Manson than Marilyn.
