Posting just a quick watercolor today, which I swear was not my intention. It’s just that I promised myself I’d take a break from what I usually do which is use my paints and brushes to dutifully mimic photos or whatever I see in real time that I’m Inspired by. So this time, I kept things a little more simple and focused on contrast using just a few colors.
Pictured here is Alix Bancourt, the Paris-based blogger behind The Cherry Blossom Girl.
This has been one of my favorite fashion blogs for years since I’m a big fan of Bancourt’s high-end, always romantic style. Think lots of Chanel, Chloe and Tara Jarmon and somehow there’s always an occasion for a party dress and bows. In this illustration, she’s wearing white fur, which for some reason, I seem to love painting. I just find the look of white fur very rock and roll as well as luxe, for some reason. And then of course there’s the fact that it’s stupidly easy–just resist the urge to color it in and you’re done!
I absolutely love this piece. Her eyelashes and the colour choices are what struck me first — gorgeous!
I just wanted to tell you that I adore your art and I’ve been following your work for ages now. 🙂 Wish I could photograph you painting!!! 🙂
love it!

You have captured the hair beautifully and I loved the ring from the post before this one… I find painting soothing also… especially in watercolours as they are so immediate…xx

Great colours – I did a similar-coloured one on Friday’s post. I like painting girls with bright hair!
