Well, at this point Fashion Week has come and gone, a whirlwind of runway shows, parties and promotions and of course journalists and bloggers scrambling to capture as many moments of it as possible.

Of course with everyone constantly snapping away and updating Intagrams and Tumblrs and tweeting their critiques, it’s hard to focus on any one show let alone any one moment in the fashion timeline. But I knew I wanted to capture something special for an NYFW-inspired illustration so I forced myself to focus–and not get overwhelmed by all the gorgeousness to work its way through Lincoln Center. And um, it wasn’t easy, so this probably will not be my only Fashion Week illustration.

But as for what you see here, it was just one of the dozens of designs by Betsey Johnson for Spring 2013. And you gotta love that gal for always staying true to her code of making ultra-girlie, patterned pieces that when worn, transform the wearer into someone who can’t help but be fun and flirty. In particular I was taken with the outfit pictured here, an unexpected combination of a fur-lined coat, filmy gown and tough girl boots. But there were also plenty of more traditional Betsey looks to make their way down the runway this season, like brightly-colored slip dresses, tutu-like skirts and tiaras. Fairytale princesses and old-timey dancing girls seemed to be sources of inspiration. But don’t take my word for it. Style.com has tons of beautiful photos of the shows, including the one I drew my own inspiration from, which you can check out here.
